The Story Game: Pussy Willow and the Light Kitties

The tiny gray kitten's name was Pussy Willow. He lived in a magical castle in the middle of an enchanted forest. He was an only kitten, and so he was always feeling lonesome. He would dream of having a brother or sister to play with.

One night while he was dreaming he felt something brush up against his tail. It was a lovely orange Catkin! She looked just like the sun!

He jumped up to greet her and asked her where she came from. She said "I come from your wishes to have a sibling. My name is Aurora. I am here to be your sister and together we shall climb many mountains and run in the forest. I shall teach you all I know about the ways of us felines. We shall hunt the creatures of the swamps and spend our days napping in the sunshine. When you are older we travel all over the world to visit other felines who live on beautiful islands, tall mountains, and white sandy beaches. "

Suddenly Pussy Willow saw many cats running around in a bright light. Aurora said "The Light Kitties are magical, Pussy Willow. They can grant you three wishes, but be careful what you wish for. If you wish for something selfish the wish can have the opposite effect. What you need to do is close your eyes and think very hard about what you would like to have as your first wish.”

Pussy Willow though about all the good things he liked to eat like Tuna and Temptations and ham. But then, Pussy Willow remembered all the homeless cats that have no food. So, for his first wish he thought and thought and then thought some more and all of a sudden the first wish was that every kitty could have a forever home!

He turned to Aurora and asked “Do you think my wish can come true? After all, I'm only one tiny little kitten. This is a very BIG wish.”

Aurora replied "That is a very good first wish. However it will take a long time to fulfill, but it can be done.”

"Yes, I know, but it is what I want most of all, kitties everywhere to be happy!”

Suddenly something started happening. The sky took on a beautiful glow and a voice said, "Your wish will come true, but only if this day, you make a promise".

Pussy Willow looked nervously at Aurora and then up to the sky and said "A....a.... promise? What sort of a promise? A promise like the kind I made to my mommy when I promised not to cross the street? Or talk to strangers? Or pounce on strange squirrels?”

"No," said Aurora. "The kind of promise you mean to keep." Pussy Willow shifted uncomfortably, considering her words.

The voice replied, "You must promise that you'll always be a good brother to Aurora."

"I think I can do that," said Pussy Willow,” but what if I fail?" "Keep your promise today, and consider tomorrow when it comes. Now, do you want to know what you're promising?"

Aurora lifted an eyebrow and considered the small cat, who nodded gravely."Can you promise?”

“Yes anything I really want this wish to come to. Now tell me what I need to promise to do. Do you think I'll be able to keep my promise? After all, I'm only a tiny kitten and often suffer from poor judgment. What must I promise?”

"You must promise to remain the sweet gentle kitty that you are now and always purr in the sunshine, and be generous with head butts. Be kind to all the kitties that don't have forever homes because it will take time for your wish to be fulfilled.”

Pussy Willow's whiskers quivered with excitement. “Oh yes...yes, I promise, I promise!”

At that moment a wonderful sound filled the air. It was like the sound of a squillion kitties purring all at once.

Pussy Willow felt a sweet contentment fill him, and as he closed his eyes he heard Aurora say “The Light Kitties have granted your first wish, Pussy Willow.”

“It is now time to make your second wish.”
For his second wish Pussy Willow thought about that ham and Temptations and cake and stuff again, but sadly that was not to be. So next he thought about having friends in other species! He remembered a time when there was something going on where you picked a friend in another species and he decided to get a friend that was a spider! Pussy Willow named his spider Janice! For his second wish, he wanted every kitty to have a friend from another species forever.

Aurora said “That is a little bit silly, Pussy Willow! However, it is still quite wonderful because no kitty will ever be alone anymore! The Light Kitties have granted your second wish.”

“It is now time to make your third wish, Pussy Willow.”

Pussy Willow had so many other wishes going through his tiny kitten brain that he wanted to wish for! He just couldn’t choose!

Pussy Willow turned to Aurora and said “Oh, Aurora, I wish I had more wishes so that I could wish for every hurty to be healed, every sickness to be cured, every hungry to be fed, no more scairtys and that every kitty will always be loved!

Suddenly, all the Light Kitties stopped their running and formed a circle around Pussy Willow and Aurora and they all began to Purr!
