This is Brandy. Mom got Brandy somewhere around 1978. Mom had 2 dogs at the time, Kahuna and Penny. Kahuna was a husky-shepherd mix and Penny was a tiny white and orinch terrier mix. Kahuna and Penny were like Mutt and Jeff: a giant woofie and a tiny woofie, and they were inseparable. One terrible day, Penny dug a hole under the fence and was hit by a car. Kahuna was absolutely inconsolable for about a month. She kept roaming around looking for Penny everywhere and whimpering all the time. Mom decided to bring home a puppy for Kahuna. That puppy was Brandy.
Mom drove out to a farm and looked at some 5-week old pups. Brandy's Mama doggie was a full-blooded Black Shepherd and her Daddy doggie was a full-blooded Irish Setter. Mom says she's not sure just what she expected the puppies to look like, but it certainly wasn't anything like Brandy! Brandy's furs were all wiry and rough -nothing like either of her parents! And that big nose! It barely fit on her face!
Brandy was the sweetest dog anyone could ask for. She preferred to be outside in the yard or her dog house, unless there was thunder boomies anywhere in the vicinity. Then Brandy had to be in Mom's lap, all the while whimpering and kissing Mom's face until the thunder boomies stopped. Brandy was 68 pounds. NOT GOOD! :-D
After Kahuna died, Mom had to get Brandy a puppy. But that's a story for another day! Brandy lived a long and happy life with Mom! She was never sick a single day in her life of 17 years! Then one day she just fell asleep under Mom's Mr. X's truck and never woke up.
We know we will get to meet Brandy one day! Mom says she will be there to greet us at the Bridge with a big smiley face and her whole body wagging!

ReplyDeleteBrandy sounds like a wonderfull woofie! And what life she had, not once sick! We don't know much about woofies but we think that 17 years are a high age for such a big dog. She must have been very happy to live that long!
