Just when I finally get a screened patio again, I get thrown in Kitty Jail. At least I'm getting some one-on-one Mom Time. And some nip and good scritches.
We've had a few questions on when the marking started. We do not remember exactly but it was not very long after Mom stopped letting us go Outside last July. Our neighborhood got some big dogs that the new neighbors allowed to roam free and there were a few Tom Cats that kept coming into our yard. Mom says it was no longer safe to let us be Outside, even though we were always supervised. That was also about the time we got Whitey.
We just moved to the Swamp. Even though we are in a very quiet, very low traffic area (only 3 houses), there are about 8 stray/feral cats - a few of them big Tom Cats that roam around - so Mom does not feel safe in letting us Outside here, either. That is why she screened in the patio for us.
Oh. And Mom says to tell you that we are using Feliway diffusers and Nature's Miracle.
But what is that she keeps popping down my throat before she gives my Temptations? ::sigh::

I am so sorry you are in solitary. I hope that things work themselves out.
ReplyDeleteWe are sure it will all work owt fine in the end. Yoo've had a lot of disruptions to deal wiv (moving howse, a noo sisfur and bruvfur etc) so yoo are bound to be stressed. Some cats are more pre-disposed to stress than others (Alfie is) and it sounds like yoo might be.
ReplyDeleteTry not to worry. Smoochies.
I will have mum bake a cake tonight!
ReplyDeleteDo you have the munchies? Something must be working, then.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I'm so sorry you are having troubles! Gandalf, moms get very stressed out when you do that marking thing. I hope the medicines will help you relax and stop spraying and then you will get right out of solitary!
ReplyDeleteAw Gandalf...if we could spring you from your jail cell we would! We hope things go better soon....
ReplyDeleteTamir was in solitary confinement once. The medicine didn't help him and he stressed out too much from pils. Mom had a compound made that worked better (and made his coat beautiful!)
ReplyDeleteSniffie and the Florida Furkids
those things are temp-tay-shun prep-a-ray-shuns!!!
ReplyDeletewhat flavor cake would you like? toona or ham?
Tuna! Thanks, boys!
ReplyDeleteGandalf, you have to stop marking so you can get out of your prison. For about the first two years we were allowed out unsupervised and mum knew that we would be out in the fields somewhere. Eric started to go for longer walks and was going to neighbours farms and wouldn't come back when called. Mum decided it wasn't safe for him to wander so far and we became indoor cats. Dad built us a run and that was as far as we could go. I used to forget I was indoors and would stand in the litterbox to pee instead of squatting. Mum kept pushing my butt down and made sure the box wasn't close to the wall. Then she started taking us for walks in the fields after that. When she called us to go back, we soon learned that if we didn't come, when she caught up with us, we were shut right back in, but if we did come, it meant treats. I stopped peeing standing up indoors then. We know peeing standing up isn't the same as marking, but both were probably caused by being stopped from going outdoors
ReplyDeletePhew! I don't know where this long comment came from, must be why Eric calls me blabbermouth.

Gandalf- Nigel here! See if you can get your mom to find a compounding pharmacy that can mix up your kitty prozac in a fluid mixuture that tastes like chicken or tuna juice. When I had to take my medicine I was too naughty to let mom pill me so she just squirted the stuff in my wet food and I scarfed it all up.
ReplyDeleteGood luck buddy!
Pee Ess...Cory says to tell Whitey hi and xoxo.
::rolls eyes::
Headbutts, Nigel
Gandalf, we are so sorry you are in Kitteh Jail. We hope you get out soon.
ReplyDeletedo not worry too much about being in solitary confinement. you are not REALLY in solitary confinement. all your innernet kitteh furrends are here for you!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your continuing problems...we'll keep purring for you. I'll make you some salmon cakes, okay?

thank you, everybuddy! well at first it is very easy, then there is a hard part, then it gets pretty easy again when you know what you are doing. it takes a long time to do, but i think it is worth it because me and mommeh did not like having the litters tracked all over the house. my mommeh bought me the Litter Kwitter, and that is how i learned. to see that you can go to http://www.litterkwitter.com and look around. the system is not perfect - as you can see by the cardboards on my potty, my mommeh has had to make some adjustments so that it worked for me, cause every kitteh is different! but they say you can teach multiple kittehs at a time using only one litter kwitter thing, so if you guys are feeling up to a big challenge maybe you could give it a go!
ReplyDeleteAh! I see you're already onto the Feliway. Sorry it's not working.
ReplyDeleteYou may have to resort to a cat psychologist. No kidding -- our vet recommended this to us one time.
Well, at the very least, you and Gandalf get to bond more closely while he's in there.
Gandalf, maybe you need meditation music and learn to do cat yoga! You will get used to the new place...unfortunately, it does take time. Not having rugs helps too.....(Mommy said that!!)=^Y^=
ReplyDeleteI watched this show on animal planet where this cat was an indoor cat and kept spraying and the owners couldnt figure out why. What they did was scrub the walls on the outside because the cats that were outside were spraying on the walls outside (mostly by the windows) and the cat on the inside could smell it, also seeing the cats in the windows since they were strange cats made the cat nervous and he would spray so they suggested more activity, more toys, more scratching posts...hope you find something to help
ReplyDeleteIt must be stressful for your mom to deal with the marking problem. Your mom is trying really hard to make things work. It will take some time for you to get used to indoor life, but you can do it :). My kitties are purring for you.
ReplyDeleteWe hope you get un-stressed soon Gandalf. Maybe your Mom could put Grayson in with you for a little bit.
ReplyDeleteGandalf we are sorry you are stuck in solitary. Floyd used to spray sometimes and mom didn't like it but she wasn't too bothered because it was where the old owners of the house kept their puppy at night (there were puppy pads there when they looked at the house) so she thought it was that smell causing it. Maybe there is a smell making you want to spray too. And actually Tygana made an interesting point - when we first moved in there was a stray in the area who sprayed our patio door, so the cats sprayed that whole area inside. If there are other cats around maybe that is a part of it too. Plus with moving and everything you must be more stressed then normal - we hope you can relax soon!
ReplyDeleteSorry your holed up my friend. Stress sucks.
ReplyDeleteGandalf, how come you're spraying and your brothers aren't? If you stop, you'll get out of prison.
