Mom Barb here. I wanted to follow up with a final word on the Calming Collars. I am a fan!
Many of you will recall what a stressful time it was for me and the cats back in February when we moved from the Yellow house to the Swamp. Adding to the stress of the move was introducing Gandalf, Grayson and Whitey to Gracie. Gandalf started spraying and Whitey sprayed a few times. They were all hissing and growly and I was constantly cleaning.
In a word, it was dreadful!
I reached out in sheer frustration and you all responded and offered some wonderful suggestions. I can't tell you how much your words of encouragement helped, and I am sure I tried all of the suggestions!
I am thrilled beyond belief to tell you that there has been NO SPRAYING in over 2 months! Sheer Bliss!
What I want to share with you now is what IMHO were THE 2 most successful things I did:
- I used the Calming Collars on ALL of them for 2 months. I thought it would help if they all sort of smelled the same. And of course, I want them ALL to be calm! I know some people mentioned that they found the Lavender scent somewhat offensive, but I rather liked it.
- At the end of May I had Stanley Steamer come out to the Yellow house to shampoo my carpets and treat them with their Enzyme Treatment. They guarantee the Enzyme Treatment to work after 48 hours or they re-treat. Let me tell you, that was the best $10 I've ever spent! The product they use is called Odor Out Plus. I bought a 32 oz. bottle of the Odor Out Plus for around $18.00. I started using it wherever they sprayed. It took less than a week... NO MORE SPRAYING! The best $18.00 I've ever spent! It didn't take much of it at all either. In fact, I still have about half a bottle left. I spray a light mist on the carpet after I vacuum, just because it smells nice and fresh. A friend of mine just ordered some so I added a bottle to his order just to have it on hand. You can order it online at the link I gave above or if you happen to see a Stanley Steemer truck you could flag them down and buy it off the guys in the truck! =0)
This is blurry.. sorry, but it was the only one I took with all 4 of them in it. Calm. It's a beautiful thing!
Did you all just hear that angellic "L-a-a-a-a-ah"?

This is such wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteThat is excellent news! And it's great that everyone is happier now too!
ReplyDeleteGreat news! Mom will have to try that stuff as Natures Miracle hasn't worked all that well for us either.
ReplyDeleteWhitey...I'd have mom try anything that you like! Purrrrr....
xoxo Cory
I am glad that everybuddy is calmer at your house, and your carpets smell baby fresh. Mum says it is nice to find some products that actually work!!
ReplyDeleteGreat news, we're so glad everyone is calm and happy!...xoxo...Calle, Halle, Sukki
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips with the urination issues. Jack goes outside of his box for reasons I am not fully able to figure out yet. He hasn't always been this way. I have some ideas why. I would love to get rid of pee smell though, that is for sure!
ReplyDeleteFabulous news. And those products sound excellent.
ReplyDeleteThat is SUCH good news! I really felt for you when things were not going well earlier in the year, and I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that things are working out!
ReplyDeleteYAY FOR YOU!
We're so happy that things have calmed at Chez Gs.
ReplyDeleteThis is terrific news!
ReplyDeleteThose collars really seem to help; I might have to resort to them through the winter, when the cats are confined to the house and really can't go into our enclosed back space. Things always deteriorate quickly between Nicki and Annie when he's bored. So it's great to know someone else has had success with these collars! Hurrah!
it is good your mommeh found thingies that worked and now everybuddy feels betters! Whitey, me and my mommeh just watched your "luckiest" video, and we both cried lots of little tears.
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy that this storee has a happy ending! Mine mommy uses "Anti-Ickypoo" fur our little accidents. It works good but it does has a strong odor that I not likes so much. So she sais she will try your stuffs!
ReplyDeleteThanks fur sharing the info and the love!

I know you must be so happy to find products that worked, because it's hard cleaning up after accidents.

Calm is good!!!

That is so great that things are calm there. I wish I could use the calming collars - the smell is not bad but within a few minutes it gave me a migraine (as most things with a scent do) so the only way we could use them is if I moved out. But the steamer stuff - I need to try and get some of that. I have the natures miracle - it works ok and actually doesn't give me a headache which is a miracle in itself. But then again, the pee smell I get is very faint - I can only tell if I get really close - it is easy to see though! But just because I can't smell it doesn't mean everyone else can't (though I have a very sensitive nose, so hopefully the house isn't too gross!)
ReplyDeleteHurrah for calming collars and urine scent remover!
ReplyDeleteWe love a happy ending!
We miss you so much, dear Whitey. It's wonderful to see you again.
Yay!! We're so happy that peace reigns!!
ReplyDelete(our mom tried the calming collar on Zoey and she doesn't think it's making much of a difference...but then, Zoey is one tough nut to crack!)
Good information about the calming collars, I had never heard about them. I will keep them in mind for future!
ReplyDeleteMy Molly is very ornery and I have tried Felaway plug-ins and a calming spray for her basket. Unfortunately I think she is just too old (almost 19) to accept anyone new so she lives separately from the boys.
