Gracie's X-ray 11/20/09

Dr. Tad just emailed Mom Gracie's first X-ray, taken in November when she was first gotcha'd by our friend Peggy.

Gracie's X-ray Nov 2009 - Bless her little heart :-(

Bless her little heart! Her baby leg is just a jumble of bones. It made Momma cry all over again to see it.

So to see something cuter and sweeter we decided to post Gracie's pictures from then. She was only 3-4 weeks old in November, by the Vet's best guess-timate.

This one was taken when she got back from the Vet's on Nov 20th 2009:

Gracie, just gotcha'd on 11/20/09

And Mom made this collage from some of the photos she took the day before Thanksgiving, Nov 25th 2009:

Gracie, the day before Thanksgiving 2009

And this is now!

Gracie and her favorite Pink Mousie

We were planning to use this photo for her Glamor Puss Saturday but we simply could not wait after seeing that X-ray.

Mom is beginning to think it may not be broken because she has started to let it touch the floor. She's not putting her weight on it; she's just using it more for balance. Two days ago she was trying to squeeze herself into a basket on Mom's desk and she did use it to push.

She is doing MUCH better. Mom was not seeing any indication of pain so she has not had any pain meds in a few days. She's been buzzing around on 3 legs chasing her mousies just like there was nothing wrong.

And she headrubbed Whitey this morning! Awwwwww!

Here is the link. We have also put it in our sidebar.

Glamor Puss Saturday with Gracie

Glamor Puss Gracie 032710

Hi, everybuddy! Welcome to another Glamor Puss Saturday!

First, a little update, since you have all been so kind to purr for me. I am soaking up all your purrs and am doing a little bit better. Momma called to see if Dr. Tad had called the 1st Vet that took X-rays when I was just a few weeks old to compare the old Vs. the new but it's on his 'To Do' list and he hasn't gotten to it yet.

Some of you asked what happened to me. I was only a few weeks old and borned to to Feral Mama Kitty, so I do not remember and Momma does not know. All I know is I had broked bones and lot of hurty when our neighbor Peggy caught me and brought me to her Vet.

Mom is giving me my pain meds once or twice a day, but if I need it I can have it up to three times a day. I am carrying my Special Leg a little bit differently since I re-injured it. Now I hold it up under me and the way I'm holding it up causes my paw to stick out a little bit on the other side so when I walk or try to turn under the table or chairs sometimes I bump it and I growl a tiny bit. Momma tried me in the crate again yesterday for a few hours. I left a bunch of stripey tatoos all over Mom's arms. Momma says after 45 minutes of hollering, I finally settled down and had a nice quiet nap. I say I was napping just fine in that sunbeam on the patio, thankyouverymuch.

And now back to Glamor Puss Saturday!

Guess what? I have a NICKNAME! Momma has been calling me Boney Baloney!

I am growing really fast! At least my bones are, even broked. I am getting tall and long. My fat seems to be a bit behind on the growth curve. Momma is a little bit worried about my lack of fat, but Dr. Tad told her not to worry about that only a few weeks ago and Dr. Dave agreed with Dr. Tad just the other day. Momma says my hips are nothing but bones, even though they are a little bit Abby-Normal bones!

Oh! Guess what else? My tail is starting to get very floofalicious!

I am growing fast and changing almost daily, but one thing has not changed - I am still a Glamor Puss!

Happy Saturday, everybuddy!

Just say NO to the crate

032610_gracie_mousie, originally uploaded by willthink4wine.
Thank you for all your purrs! They are helping me a lot! Momma only had to give me my pain meds once yesterday when we went to bed and, so far, not at all today. I am not hollering and growly like I was yesterday and the night before. I am purring and playing with my Pink mousie!

I convinced Momma to let me OUT of my crate. First of all, I really do NOT like it in there and I flail around and scream to get OUT. I dump my water. I machine paw ALL of my litter all over the place. Then, to finally convince her, I started trying to climb the grid. She thought I would hurt myself worse in there, so she finally let me OUT! I can be very single-minded when I want to be!

Now that I am OUT I am being a very good girl. I am not trying to climb any furniture, which is what Dr. Tad was trying to prevent when he suggested the crate.

Momma has warned me that if I climb ANYTHING, it's right back in the crate I go!

Somebuddy asked yesterday if amputation was still a possibility. Yes, it is. It all depends on how my Special Leg heals and whether or not I will begin to use it again. I am purring that I will be able to keep my Special Leg, but if I can't I already know how to run around on 3 legs real good! And I know I can still be a Glamor Puss, no matter how many legs I have.

In other news, yesterday, Momma had some trouble from Whitey and Gandalf, so they are back in her office until they can behave again. They both marked on the patio door. Momma was very sad about that since they had done so well for 2 whole weeks.

Grayson is a perfect angel and he has been very sweet to me! We did nose bonkies and head rubs! I think he knows I was hurting. He's such a good boy!

Gracie's X-ray 032510

Gracie's X-ray 032510, originally uploaded by willthink4wine.
Dr. Tad says he's never seen anything like this. The Yellow Arrows are old breaks. Both femurs show old breaks as well as a lower break on her right rear leg. There is no right hip ball joint to speak of.

032610_gracie1

The Pink arrow is the area he suspects is hurting her. Dr. Tad says it is either a new injury or it's an old injury that doesn't show signs of healing and may have been re-injured, and he can't be sure. Momma suggested he call the Vet our neighbors first brought Gracie to when they caught her to compare X-rays. Dr. Tad was going to do that after Momma left.

032610_gracie3

She has swelling all around the Pink Arrow area. He aspirated the area while she was sedated and there is no fluid, so no infection, at least not yet.

032610_gracie2

She has to be confined to a crate for 2 weeks to keep her from jumping and to give it time to heal.

Dr. Tad gave Momma some Butorphanal which she can have up to 3 times a day, as needed for pain.

Poor baby girl.

Gracie update

Gracie is at the Vet. Later this morning she will be sedated to have an X-ray. They will call Momma after the X-ray.

Thank you for all your purrs.

Gracie update

Momma did an update on Gracie her blog. Gracie is very, very hurty this morning and is going to be at the Vet's office waiting when they open. We'll update again when we have more news.

Gracie goes to see Dr. Dave

Do I look Happy? No! I most certainly do NOT!

Whitey and I had a hissy face-off this morning. I got all growly afterward and would not put any weight on my Special Leg. Momma was concerned and decided to bring me a day early for my Booster, which turns out was NOT an Award after all!

Dr. Dave could not find anything wrong my leg. He gave me an anti-inflammatory shot since I was showing signs of being in pain and told Momma to keep an eye on it over the next few days.

Dr. Dave says that anytime a limb is already compromised, it does not take much to set it off. He thinks that is probably all it was.

Momma asked Dr. Dave about my body fat, or lack of fat, akshully. They weighed me and found that I have gained another 1/2 pound in the last 3 weeks. I weigh 5 lbs 3 ozs now! I'm a big kitteh!

Dr. Dave says I am just fine and not to worry. He also told Momma that since I do have a Special Leg and don't walk normally, I will probably never develop muscle in my hips and so they will always feel a bit bony. He also thinks I will be a small-ish cat when I am a fully grown Ladycat, maybe only 6 pounds. Dr. Dave told Momma that she was just used to seeing much bigger cats! hahahaha!

Dr. Dave wants to see me around May 1st for my Ladygardenectomy. I have a sneaky feeling that is not an Award either.

So that was my day. I have decided to take my leave and hide in the corner beside Momma's bedside table. Perhaps a little sulk will do me good.

Where's that Whitey?

Mancat Monday with Gandalf

Gandalf on the patio, originally uploaded by willthink4wine.
It is a very good thing Mom has me to look out for her! If I hadn't knocked those papers off her desk, she would have forgotten all about having Jury Duty!

TODAY!

I've got your back, Mom! You just go and have fun at Jury Duty. Or something like that. I'll look after the Manor. Or something like that ;0)

UPDATE: It is now over 2 weeks since there has been any marking! Everybuddy is acting like their old selves and settling into the new house at the Swamp quite nicely. Momma is thrilled!

Whitey has been off the Prozac for a week and Gandalf has been off it for 5 days. We are still using 2 Feliway diffusers; 1 in the office and 1 in the main living area. We are all wearing our Calming Collars. We love licking each other's Calming Collars!

Gracie is positively fascinated by the geese! When they come right up to the patio, she goes a little bit crazy! Gracie has rubbed heads with Grayson and Gandalf. So far, Momma has not seen Gracie and Whitey rub heads but they have done nose bonkies!

Life is good on the Swamp!

Singing on Easy Like Sunday

Whitey sings to Momma and give her the Love Eyes all the time. He wants her to pick him up in her lap.

UPDATED: We just realized that Blogger is not showing this Animated Gif properly. Click Here to View on Black.

We know you can not hear him. This is the silent moving picture version. Trust us. You prefer it this way.

And just for some added cute, we saw this web site on Ariel's blog so Mom dressed Gracie up as an adorable little Lambie Pie!

Baaaah! Baaaah! Bwahahahahahaha!

Glamor Puss Saturday with Gracie - The Look What Gracie Dragged Into Bed This Time Edition

What? A girl needs her special things.

Momma wants me to tell you that she is beginning her "Getting the Yellow House Ready To Sell" stage this weekend so she will not be able to help us visit as much. That, plus she's been very busy in her business, which she insists is a welcome change and a very good thing. We will still try to do post most days if you care to see what mischief we're all getting into here at La Casa de Los Gatos.

Cool, Calm and Collected

Happy Sunday, everybuddy! Today Whitey has the pleasure of modeling our new Calming Collars. Aren't they fabulous? And do you know why they are fabulous? They are one of the tools in Momma's Arsenal to help her in her fight against stressed kitties and inappropriate marking.

Momma took everybuddy's wonderful input and put together a plan.

Momma got:

Momma kept Gandalf and Whitey confined to her office. After 4 days we had not sprayed or gone potty anywhere outside of the litter box, so Momma decided let us out. Gandalf had a setback so back we went for a few more days. Momma put Whitey in, too, so Gandalf would have a buddy. Grayson kept asking to come in to join us, so he was often in there with us.

Momma let us out of the office again 7 days ago and guess what? We have not had any marking or inappropriate pottying! Woohoo!

Momma is still putting us in the office for bedtime just in case. Since we've been so good she was going to discontinue the bedtime confinement, but we akshully started asking her to go to bed this week while our Auntie and Uncle were visiting. Momma thinks we enjoyed our quiet time and that it helped us feel safe and secure, too.

So that's our Update. All great news! Well... except we still have that Gracie, but we are even getting used to her.

Momma and all of us want to thank everybuddy who offered advise and support. The Cat Blogosphere Family ROCKS!

Glamor Puss Saturday with Gracie

Today I am a little bit of a Glamor Sour Puss because Momma was too busy with our guests to do a proper Glamor photo shoot with me. This photo was taken a few weeks ago before bedtime, and - OK FINE - it is a tiny bit glamorous. I did wear my cute Loony dress - which now fits me more like a shirt than a dress - all day long yesterday but Momma says all of the photos she took are blurry because I run around more like a Deranged Kitten than a Glamor Puss. ::sulk::

Today is my Auntie and Uncle's last full day of their visit and everybuddy is abandoning me and my BrOTHERs to go to the Zalea Festival.

I do not think Momma fully grasps the concept of my glamorousness. Yet.

Finally Friday with Gandalf

What a delicious way to kick off the weekend!

We can not wait to see what Gracie's Glamor Puss post will be tomorrow, because she has not done one single glamorous thing all week! She's just been a busy, klutzy kitten! Girls!

An Uneasy Thursday Tale on Easy Like Sunday

NOT! I had to go see Dr. Tad on Thursday. Mom says I was a Nervous Nellie and that I would not stay still for photos. Well, duh!

Since I had brought my good friend Gertrude the green mousie with me, I sent her in to be my proxy. She was a real trooper, too. She did not even mind staying still for some photos. I just love Gertrude ::whispers:: even though she is not even a little bit Pink!

Dr. Tad came in and started the examination. He felt Gertrude's innerds and even listened to her breaths and heartbeats.

Unfortunately, Gertrude did not have any breaths or heartbeats! And she had that golden bell at the end of her tail. I do not have a golden bell at the end of my tail. Dr. Tad was not fooled anymore. I had to step up to the plate, er... pink mat. RATS!

Dr. Tad said I weigh 4.8 pounds, that I tested negative for parasites and all those bad diseases and that I looked JUST GREAT! He was amazed at how well I manage with my Special Leg, and he was truly surprised when he found out for himself that Mom wasn't kidding - it really does not bend at all!

Dr. Tad must've really liked me because he wants to see me again in 3 weeks for my Booster. I think a Booster is an award of some sort, don't you? And 2 months from now he says that I can come in for my Ladygardenectomy. Oh, now that really sounds like fun, doesn't it?! Maybe I can even do a Thursday in the Garden post when I get that award!

Glamor Puss Saturday with Gracie

Go ahead. Click on it. Make it bigger. You know you want to!

Mom says I am growing like a weed and getting purrtier and purrtier every day. She also she said I can have my very own day on the blog and that I can call it anything I want! Anything I want is one of my most favorite things!

So. I thought and thought and thought some more and I have finally made up my mind. It's just a little somethin' I like to call Glamor Puss Saturday. Each Saturday I will post a glamorous photo of moi! Preferably, including something Pink, if only my ears, nose or tongue! After all, a Glamor Puss simply must have Pink!

Wanna play?!

PS. If you took my dare to make my Glamor Puss Shot bigger, you got a special Surprise in my Eyes! Did you see it?

This weekend we are going to be getting ready for a visit from our Auntie Lynda and Uncle Rick! And napping, of course.

If you're doing a Finally Friday, please sign our Linky Thingamabobble. This one is pretty neat-o. It even let's you choose which image you'd like to upload. That means can use a photo from today's post, your profile picture, or any one you'd like!

Nostrildamus

Everybuddy always thought Nostrildamus was human, but if one looks closely at one of his quotations, we begin to realize that he was obviously a cat!

"emptying my soul, mind and heart of all care, worry and unease through mental calm and tranquility"

MmmmHmmm... He's a cat alright.

Nipped out Gandalf

Gandalf has been a very good boy, as has Whitey, and today is their 3rd Day Out of Solitary Confinement! Hooray! Mom has been giving us all Catnip in our Condo every day! Woot!

As you will see in this video, Gandalf is very much enjoying his patio, his fresh airs, his singing birdies and one more thing. Hmmmm... What was that called again?

Thanks to Bill Haley and the Comets for the music. Oh, and thanks for the special cameo appearances made by Grayson and Whitey, too!
