Whitey scores!
on Thanksgiving scritches...
Whitey was the only one of us who wasn't hiding yesterday. He was just soaking up every bit of attention, stroking, scritching and brushing he could get. And in a house full of animal lovers with only one animal to be found, that was a lot of attention!
But this was Momma's favorite...
...because that's pretty much how Whitey likes to sleep in Momma's bed. Always right up against Momma, with a lot of purring and a bunch of kisses.
None of us usually hide when people come over, but this was the most people we've had inside at one time. Gandalf and Grayson and Gracie stayed in Momma's bedroom all day. Eventually Grayson and Gandalf came out - about supper time! But Gracie stayed hidden under the bedside table until about Midnight... 30 minutes after everyone had left!
So mostly, Whitey had all of the attention from all of the people all of the time!
srsly.

Our 2011 Calendar is finally ready
We're sorry that our calendar is so late this year. Momma has been too busy to help us very much. We meant to have it ready at least a month ago, but here it is. Once again we decided to have Zazzle print them as we were very happy with the paper stock they used as well as with the printing.
And once again, all proceeds we receive from the sales of the Calendar will be donated to our furry friends waiting for their Forever Homes and the many fine folks who take care of them at our favorite SPCA in Lakeland, FL.
We hope you will enjoy them.
What's a day without a little gray?... heavy on the Whitey!

Momma speaks today
"Excuse me. Have you seen my kitten?"
"She was here just a minute ago."
This tiny kitten was gotcha'd on Nov 20, 2009. She was approximately 3 weeks old, so we estimated that her birthday was likely November 1st.
My friend Peggy first found her as an injured feral. Peggy took this broken, tiny kitten to her Vet who, upon seeing the X-Ray, determined that the kitten's right rear leg was badly broken in 3 places and would need to be amputated once the kitten had a chance to grow and gain strength, probably when she reached about 2-3 months old. Hence, Peggy named the kitten 'Tripod'.
'Tripod' came to me at the Swamp on January 1, 2010 as a Foster. Peggy's cat and 3 dogs were not exactly making life very pleasant for little 'Tripod'. Try as I might, I could not find anyone who wanted to give this sweet, baby girl a Forever Home. Although I certainly never intended to have a 4th cat, after several weeks or so I was completely in love with her and I gave up trying to re-home her. I decided that the name 'Tripod' simply would not do for such a sweet, graceful girl and I changed her name to Gracie.
Right before my very eyes, Gracie went from being a tiny, broken, frightened kitten into a bossy, playful, frisky, curious, skillful, sneaky, happy, healthy and completely normal cat.
Did I mention bossy? Despite the fact that Gracie is much smaller than da boyz, she totally keeps da boyz in line. If I were not the Alpha Cat around here, Gracie would be! ;->
Gracie is now an absolutely lovely, one year old ladycat... and she still has her Special Leg!
You've come a long way, baby girl!
Happy 1st Birthday, Gracie!
Love, Momma (and da boyz!)
