(One of) The Good Old Days

I will spend today catching up with my friend Anna. She pronounces it Aaaah-nah, just so ya know.

Anyway. This photo of Anna, Goofy and me was taken a bazillion years ago. Anna's girls were little then and we spent a lot of time in the kiddie area getting photographed with the characters and their autographs. While sweating large volumes, waiting in many lines, and stopping often for water to re-hydrate.

I miss Disney. I still l♥ve Goofy.

And apparently I must still l♥ve that top, because I still have it. Yikes. Time to clean out my closet again? Probably!

So. We have BIG plans today! Anna, her sister Maria and I shall all be at BWTB this afternoon!

I may even wear that top. Just for Old Time's Sake. :P

You might be getting a little long in the tooth when...

[caption id="attachment_1217" align="alignleft" width="692" caption="FIVE OF EIGHT"][/caption]

all of your younger brothers and sisters all of a sudden become older than you.

It's some kind of Time Tear-Space Warp-Black Hole-Twilight Zone thang.

Weird.
L-R: Janice (3), Christopher (6), Lynda (2), Tina (5), Paul (7). Missing: Me (1) and Billy (8) (both in GA) and John (4) (deceased).

and I so WIWT. Love you guys! We'll do it all again in September! xoxo

Red Sox Vs. White Sox

Now normally I don't care which day of the week it is but as it happens this weekend holds something I have been looking forward to (y'all).

A friend from Chi-Town will arrive here in Hicksville sometime tomorrow. Yes, the Red Sox and the White Sox will go toe-to-toe, figuratively speaking. Although, technically, I believe Anna is a die-hard Cubbies fan! For many years Anna and I were business associates and while we no longer work in the same field, we've remained friends. As a lucky happenstance, I moved to the very city where one of her sisters lives... meaning that we get to spend time together once a year when she comes to visit! Woohoo!

We have BIG plans for Sunday, too! BWTB! ah-hahaha! Perhaps we will even win. Or not. But either way we will have tons of fun and many laughs together!

Remember to put some YAY in today! xoxo

Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival. ~C. S. Lewis

Dueling Debt

Right now, I'm not happy with either party...

I wonder what it feels like to collect an enormous paycheck with tons of awesome perks and benefits and not actually have to accomplish the job you were hired to do.

And they will feel MY heat come Election Day.

Assuming we can afford one.

In the mean time, I shall be here at my keyboard for 8-10 hours a day, pecking out my tiddles and dots trying to eek out a living which is not quite good enough to be able afford health insurance...

Relaxin' clothes are too clothes!

I don't know who decided pajamas weren't clothes, but I'd sure like to talk to him. Must clothes be uncomfortable to actually be considered clothes? Or expensive? Or fancy?

And rather than pajamas, I prefer to call them relaxin' clothes. Give me relaxin' pants and a soft, comfy top any time. Actually... make that All.The.Time.

I say we change the rules and make relaxin' clothes acceptable as clothes.  Because the older I get the more I need comfy. If it hurts or leaves a mark, I'm pretty much done with that.

Hey, if kids could decide that pants worn down below your butt is still wearing clothes then I'd say we have a pretty good shot at succeeding! What do you say? Are you with me?

Oh... and they go pretty good with Tiaras, too!

Typos... I have them.

Meet my helper. Gracie needs to be THIS close to my left hand. Unless Whitey beats her to it. ;-)

Just so you know, I have totally given up proofing my comments on blogs. I HAVE to be careful all day long as I type my new web site. I don't HAVE to on blogging. I'd like to, but sometimes my brain needs a little time off. So, please... cut me some slack on blogging, ok? For a few months? Until this project gets marked as Ta-Done? Thank you. I knew you would. That's why I love you.

I talked to my parents last night and my Dad was especially excited and relieved to report that the oppressive heat wave that New England has been having seems to have lifted. My parents actually dared to go outside yesterday. And the Boston area also got some much needed rain, too! Of course... that meant my Red Sox game went into a 2 hour and 21 minute rain delay last night... which means I didn't get to watch any of it. Just as well... I checked their web site this morning and they lost. Rats.

So what day is it today? Oh. Tuesday! I hope you have a lovely day! And me, too. xoxo

Chargers

I want a meal served in place with chargers. Like on a cruise!

And btw, who thought up that whole charger idea? Setting the table with expensive dishes nobody is actually going to use?

My first experience with chargers was about 15-20 years ago. I had just joined the local Wine Taster's Guild and I was at my very first wine pairing dinner in a 5 star restaurant. My charger just happened to be the first charger removed before the first course, and I gotta tell you... my first thought was  "Oh, no!  I'm at the wrong table... or maybe they think I shouldn't even BE here at all"! My newbie was showing big time for sure! ahahaha!

I needed to get out of the house and see some actual people yesterday so I went to BWTB and won a game! It was good to get out of the house and have a conversation that didn't involve press rollers or cats. And I think I've maybe driven 10 miles in the last 3 weeks since my parents left. Not good. If I am not careful I'll become one of those weird cat ladies.

Oh. Wait.

Too late. :P

It's Monday again. And I'm glad. I've already gotten my first order of the week. He called about 45 minutes before I 'technically' open. It's a great start to the week! It pays to be the early bird, literally! :P

Don't forget to put some YAY in your day! xoxo

Pearls of Wisdom

Last night during our phone conversation my sister Janice spoke of the current heat wave currently smothering New England. She said she didn't know if it was the heat, the humidity, her window air conditioner not cooling properly, all of her kids being home from school for the summer, her age or the extra weight she was carrying that was bothering her the most.

Ummm... Yes, SisterDear.

I woke up one too many time last light and bumped my air conditioner down to 77. It was just one of those nights, you know?

Today is more work on my web site and a trip to Wally World for a few essentials. I may even go to BWTB this afternoon. If for no other reason than to just get out of the house for some face time with people.

I hope your Sunday is lovely! xoxo

Did you read John Heald's blog post yesterday? The Island of Cappee?
thank God he didn’t have to take a...

I got to that one line and had to stop reading until I stopped laughing. OMG. He cracks me up. srsly. I may have to go on the BC5 cruise just to sail with him again.

This post is super-awesome

Click on the photo to bigify it and then follow the arrow in the photo.

Checking the box doesn't actually DO anything... except it made me LOL. :P

It's a quirky, fun option Wordpress has in the add a new post section in the dashboard.  ------------------>

Funny, eh?

Oh, and how is this for super awesome?

Welcome to the family, Ian Michael! Born 07/21/11 @ 12:57 pm, 9lbs 7 oz, 20.75 inch long!

The good, the bad and the fabulous

The Good News:  I finally found a filter cup that doesn't leak all over the place for using my own coffee in my Keurig! I have 2 Keurig My K-Cup filters and they both leak like nobody's business. I found one online (one that does not need paper refills like all the other after-market ones I'd found). It is made by Solo.  It came yesterday! After fighting with the packaging for 27 minutes, carefully reading the directions and then washing it thoroughly, I took some Dunkin Donut coffee out and made myself a cup!

The Bad News: It tasted not quite as good as the coffee on Lido Deck... Pure Yuck! I'm totally ruined for all other coffee now. I love drinking the extra bold K-cups. Donut Shop is my current favorite, but I love any of the bold or extra bold ones.

Conclusion: Do NOT buy a Keurig. It will spoil you for all other coffees forever.

The End.

And in way better other news... Today (at noon!)  my new grand nephew Ian will be having his BIRTHday! Welcome to Earth, Ian. We're all so glad you've finally arrived! And just wait until you meet your big sister, Aria. You'll love her bunches!

Congratulations, Mike and Danielle! And Happy Anniversary, too! It will be hard to top this gift next year!

xoxo

You bet your sweet bippy.

Once I made the decision to start from scratch on a whole new web site design built in a completely different platform for my business web site, I jumped with both feet. Since then I've been deeply entrenched into building my new web site... and loving how clean it is! And I'm absolutely amazed by how quickly every page loads! I still have many, many pages to write, but so far... one is pleased with our progress. :-)

I've also had to do lots of pre-thinking, because once a link is burned into the interwebs, it leaves an indelible mark. That can be a good thing... or not so much.

Kind of like a a tattoo... you want to be sure it's just exactly what you want. For a really long time.

Not that I would ever get a tattoo, you understand. Now don't get me wrong. I don't mind seeing a pretty little butterfly or a cute little puppy on some people... but some people go tattoo crazy. Or downright gross and disgusting. Or just plain dumb as a rock. :P

Anyway, I got an update from Wordpress on a few new templates and I just love, Love, LOVE this one! Normally I like clean and uncluttered, but this one reminded me immediately of Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In... and everything about being the 70's and about being a grown-up for the first time in my life. And I wondered when those quirky parties hosted by people wearing tuxes and drinking martinis would happen in my life! I loved all things Laugh-In and I wish they'd put it into syndication.

Pass the Mental Floss

The title of this post was the latter part of the first comment on this Facebook status update from our own beloved Senior CD, John Heald:
Off to Elegant night. First sitting there were more officers than guests! dont blame them - stunning day outside - I wouldnt want to put a suit on, much rather stay in my speedos on Lido.

It cracked me up. Pun intended. bwahahaha!

Fairy Godmother Monday

This is a Baby Bump. More specifically, it is a Baby Ian Bump. We are all counting down the days... no one more so than Mommy, of course! Baby Ian is scheduled to arrive in just 3 days! Three, long full-term pregnancy in the middle of the hot and humid summer days away...

Which means this baby girl...

will become the BIG SISTER! (Hi, sweet Aria! Auntie loves you SO much! xoxoxo)

And today, you ALL get to become Fairy Godmothers! Today I ask you all to endow Baby Ian with your gift, as only you could give him...even those of you who do not normally comment.

What is the gift you wish for Ian?

Gravity.

I just read Sandy's post on Redneck Sunshade Installation 101 and it got me to thinking about Gravity and how much more susceptible I am to it with every passing day.

The sisterdears and our parents still talk about this one roof we had when I was just a green sprout. It was on the 2nd floor of this little tiny house my parents had back when there was just me, Lynda, Janice, John and Tina. They had seriously outgrown this little 2-bedroom house and had to use the dining room as their bedroom.

So many stories from that tiny house! But this one is the roof. We all loved it! We all use to rake up the leaves in the fall into one ginormous pile and run upstairs, climb out onto the roof through the bedroom window and JUMP OFF THE ROOF into the pile of leaves! We'd laugh and scream with glee as each kid took their turn jumping off of the roof.

Now I would just scream and pass out.

Sometimes we'd just go out there at night and look at the stars and hang our feet off and tell stories and giggle. It seemed like so much fun back then. Not even a little bit scary. It's totally because Gravity doesn't bother you when you're young and bendy and bouncy. There's no bouncing with Gravity once all the young has left the building. srsly.

In other gravity-related news... My Dad is made of extra-industrial-strength-stubborn (yes, I come by it naturally) so every now and then I see him up on a ladder cleaning pine needles off of the roof... and I die a little.

But right now he's up nawth in the land of my bil Rick saying, "I'll KILL YA if I even catch you near a ladder, ya nit wit"...

And for some reason, Rick totally gets away with that.

Friday, Finally

Does it seem like it's been a long week to you? It does to me. I don't usually feel that way but I do this week.

Maybe it's because for the last 12 hours my Internet has been wonky. My modem keeps working, not working, working, not working. I placed a service call at 6am this morning. She said my modem was getting a poor signal. No kidding? Someone is supposed to call me between 8am-9am to tell me how they plan to resolve it.

Maybe it's because I'm testing a whole new web site platform. Since I've been having the publishing issues with my current software/host and it seems the only solution is to build a entirely new web site from scratch, I've been exploring possibilities other than the one I've been using for about 15 years. I'll let you in on my dirty little secret... I don't change well. :D I don't like to fix somethin' that ain't broke. Having said that, I'm not closed minded either. I am willing to see if there is something better out there which will do what I want without too much trouble... Now that it IS broke and needs fixin'. :P

So I am doing my due diligence now. This new platform I'm currently playing with looks appealing on many levels, but what piqued my interest immediately was the ability to have both my business web site as well as my business blog all within one URL. And the hosting fee is actually a good bit less expensive than what I've been paying, too! Bonus! So I'm kicking the tires and taking her out for a spin. Hopefully, my old brain cells won't revolt too much at this new learning curve.

Tomorrow I'll be taking a break from it and picking up my really good paint brushes! But I still have to get through today first, which I hope will include some really nice orders! I hope your day is lovely, too! Big hugs xo

♫♪♫ Georgia on My Mind ♫♪♫

So yesterday I told you why I decided to leave Florida. There really isn't an interesting reason why I picked Georgia other than: I had spent a good bit of time travelling around the great state of Georgia over the previous 30 or so years visiting friends and family, it wasn't too far from Florida and it doesn't snow here in the winter. That's a biggie!

I have to tell you though, the residential property values made Georgia much more affordable and therefore much more appealing. The housing market in Florida at that time was seriously ridiculous. It was great for long-time real estate investors like Al's brother who had a bunch of rental property he had bought back when it was dirt cheap and sold while it was highly inflated. Then there was the cost of electricity. Thanks to a big booboo - a $90 million 10-year booboo, our monthly electric bill was never below $500, no matter how conservative we were.

We use to take off on long weekends to explore areas of Georgia we hadn't been to in recent years other than just driving through. Al, Barbara and I would literally take a map and pick a spot and that's where we'd go. We didn't do anything around Atlanta as Al and Barbara are originally from Atlanta and still have tons of family there. Been there; done that a zillion times.

As it happened, we were planning to head to Dahlonega next. I had done some poking around on the internet and Dahlonega looked absolutely lovely. I had even selected a few houses on Realtor.com that I wanted to look at. It was then Al and I noticed Lakeland, GA on the map. We decided that we simply HAD to see our sister city! We looked at few homes on Realtor.com, contacted a Realtor and made an appointment to see them. Well, suffice to say Lakeland, GA is just a little bit too country for me. But Larry, our Realtor, asked us some questions and suggested we let him show us some properties in Valdosta, which is the city bordering Lakeland. The rest, as they say, is history... Al found the Swamp not long afterwards and I found the Yellow House on another weekend.

I've still never been to Dahlonega, but one of these weekends...

The Perfect Storm

I just deleted all of the photos off of my iPhone again. You just have to do that every once in a while. Anyway, there were some from the BC4 cruise on there and this was one of them. I remember taking it... sitting on Lido having my morning coffee. Aaahhh... I so wish I was there! And you, too. On the non-smoking side, of course. :P Speaking of which, I am still doing pretty well with kicking that habit... not completely quit but much better. srsly.

So yesterday was the shake down for Al's new infomercial find - Paint Zoom. Let's see. How shall I put this?.... Paint Gun FAIL. Al packed it back up while I called their 800 number to tell them it was coming back and he dropped it off at the Post Office on his way home.

You get what you pay for (y'all). I have 3 really good paint brushes that I just love. And I have 3 older really good paint brushes that I still keep just in case they stop selling my really good paint brushes by the time I need to replace them. I've said this before but I'll say it again. I'm all for time and effort-saving... Truly, I am.... but I can not tell you how much time and effort we've wasted while Al tried to save time and effort with a new time-saver gadget.

Yesterday Sandee asked why I left Lakeland and moved to Valdosta. Easy... The year was 2004... The Year of Hurricanes.

Specifically, the straw that broke the camel's back? Hurricane Jeanne.

I could actually do a kind of fun post just about Hurricane Jeanne, but for now let me tell you that I have weathered my fair share of hurricanes since moving to Florida in 1975, including Hurricane Andrew, a Cat 5 which scared the crap out of me! I was terrified and wanted to FLEE, but stayed put! I did have just one Mandatory Evacuation in 1985 that kept me from even returning to my home in Tampa for 3 days after the storm. My house was just 5 houses away from the water, Tampa Bay. They were talking Storm Surges of potentially 25-30 feet, depending on where it actually came into Tampa Bay. I begged my now ex-husband to evacuate early when they called for Voluntary Evacuation, but he refused until the middle of the night when the cops came through the neighborhood with their lights flashing and their emergency sirens blaring and the Mandatory Evacuation announcement. By then the winds were about 75mph with MUCH higher gusts Not fun to drive in, people! I vowed never to wait for Mandatory again. I'll Volunteer very early and set a good example.

So. We evacuated to Al's brother's house... near Lakeland. Inland. Away from the water and Storm Surge. Hurricane Elena wasn't really all that bad of a storm except it just happened to come in to Tampa Bay at about a Cat 3, flooding Bayshore Drive and downtown and all along the coast. It was about 5 feet deep on Bayshore. With waves. I remember watching it on TV and thinking how surreal it was to see all those familiar places. On TV. With WAVES in front of my favorite seafood restaurant which wasn't on the beach side of the street! Fortunately, my home had minor wind damage but no flooding. Elena did cause major beach erosion. Actually, it eroded the entire road along Bayshore right by me. There just wasn't any road left!

Anyway, back to 2004 and Hurricane Jeanne. That year, 2004 was when I made up my mind that it was time to leave Florida. We had 5 major hurricanes that year which just so happened to all have intersected my county in central Florida. CENTRAL.Florida. That doesn't normally happen. Usually the hurricanes lose strength once they hit land.

We had to wait about a year and a half to finally get a roofing contractor to replace the roof because ours (mine and Al's) weren't damaged as badly as so many that had blue tarps covering them. Al and his brother patched ours with shingles that Al's brother had left over. A year and a half... and there were tons of out of state roofers that were there.

Just about the time the roofs were replaced, Al was ready to retire. I actually had someone in my industry who heard Al was retiring call me to ask if she and her husband could buy my business. Hello! Yes, please. Thank you very much.

My parents lived over on the left coast of Florida, nearly a 2 hour drive from me. They had moved down from New Hampshire to retire in a little beachy community with a bunch of their nawthern camping buddy friends. Over the years the friends all scattered or passed away. Quite literally, my parents were the last hold-outs in the community. Once I had decided for sure to move to Georgia I asked my parents if they wanted to move with me. Hello! Yes, please. Thank you very much.

So... almost 2 years to get a new roof, a few months to sell the business and a bit longer to sell the house... in 2006, Hello, Jawjah!

Well, there you have it, Sandee. The Why I Moved to Georgia Story. Assuming you're still reading! hahaha!

Have a lovely day! xoxo

The Swans of Lakeland, FL

[caption id="" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Image via Wikipedia"]Lake Mirror in downtown Lakeland, Florida. Lak...[/caption]

After my marriage ended, I moved to Lakeland. I lived there from May, 1993 until June 2006. I ♥ Lakeland! So much to do on every day of the week, all year long! It's got many big-city amenities while still keeping its small-town feel.

What I loved and miss most about Lakeland, as you might guess, are the lakes! There have monthly free concerts on the lakes where they encourage people of all ages to come out. Bring a blanket, a chair, a picnic and a cooler. And wine!

Of course, I also miss my wine club! Oh, how I miss my wine club! Wine tastings, Wine Pairings at 4 and 5-star restaurants... and my favorite wine store, which has since closed its Lakeland location, where my wine guru knew exactly what I loved and I could call and say, "Hi, it's me. Mix me a $99 case and I'll be down later to pick it up" store!

sigh.

But this post is not about wine. It is about SWANS!

Here is how Lakeland got its swans, according the city's web site:
Where did the swans come from?

Swans were reported to be on the city's lakes as early as 1923. Most likely, those early swans had been purchased as pets by lake front residents, who later released them on the lakes. By 1954 the last of these swans and their descendants had died, having fallen prey to people, pet dogs, and/or alligators.

A Lakeland resident, Mrs Robert Pickardt who had enjoyed the swans and mourned their passing, wrote to Queen Elizabeth of England and inquired about purchasing a pair of swans from the royal flock on the Thames River. A representative of the royal family replied that the Queen would donate a pair of swans to Lakeland if the city would pay the cost of capturing and shipping the swans to the US. The money was raised for shipping the swans, and two white mute swans were released on Lake Morton on February 9, 1957.

Their descendants continue to grace Lake Morton and other lakes throughout the city.

So the swans of Lakeland grace Lake Morton, and now a few smaller lakes as well, thanks to the good humor of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth.

Riggafriggagrumblegroan $&@#% Blogger.

20110711-043908.jpg

Today's Awww.Mondays post from Sandee reminded me of where I lived before I moved to GA. Lakeland, FL has many lakes, as the name implies. Several of these lakes have swans. I should do a post about how Lakeland got her swans one day.

Or you could google it! Hahaha!

Speaking of google...

I've been using google chrome to comment on Blogger blogs because if I use any other browser it won't let me log in... Let alone leave comments. Well, guess what? Even that is spotty now. Blogger is eating comments on google chrome now. Riggafriggagrumblegroan...

And I really hate the new blogger dashboard. They must be rolling it out slowly because not everybody on blogger has it yet. The type font is so tiny my 57 year old eyes have been straining to even make out the words to find where they hid everything. Riggafriggagrumblegroan...

In other news... Yesterday had many things happening, but no paint was harmed in the improving of the hallway. Al went to the Lowesdepotstore and got some drywall and other miscellaneous doodads and doohickeys and we got the drywall hung and mudded. Today, we'll sand and see how much more mudding needs to be done before it is ready for painting.

Al ordered a new paint gun a few weeks ago... We'll be taking her out for a test drive today. I have about 20 doors and a few rooms that she could breeze through... IF she actually can do what she advertises she can do.

and it's Monday. So back to work for me. I'm hoping to have a good many orders, requiring me to apologize to Al for being too busy to be his assistant. :P

Have a YAYful day! xoxo

Ding.

20110710-013801.jpg

Today is get done what didn't get done yesterday day. Like, for instance... Painting.

After my everyday household chores, I had a Bunch O'Errands to get done in the morning... Like stopping by the vets for prescription dry food, the post office, and the credit union, all which had to be done before noon when they closed... then the UPS store to ship a bread machine to my nephew, drop off my community well water bill for the yellow house (to save a stamp because it's directly next to the UPS store), then a hair cut and grocery shopping.

All before it got too hot. Because painting is done inside with air conditioning. :-)

Well. I got all of it done except for the grocery shopping. It started raining just as I left the vet's on my way to the post office... Which is precisely when I discovered that my windshield wipers decided they didn't want to work anymore. Luckily then post office and credit union is right around the corner and I conducted my credit union business while I waited out the storm. And I went about the rest of my errands... But after I got to Walmart came a couple of ginormous clatters... Thunderboomies. I only live a mile from Walmart and it had not started raining, so I decided to get home before it started. And I made it! Phew!

But now I have no groceries. The cupboards are bare. Well the freezer still has plenty of food but I need milk, eggs.. stuff to make some yummy Cinnamon Rolls with Pecans and Raisins that I posted on my recipe blog!

So it's back to Walmart and then try to get to the painting today. Which sounds easy enough, and it would be, except Al decided to work on re-framing the air conditioner handler's access closet in the hallway yesterday... and he's not done yet. We shall see. It's always something, isn't it?

Oh. And in case you didn't know... I hate errands and shopping. Hate shopping. Yesterday wiped me out! I sat down in my recliner after feeding the cats and went right to sleep. When I woke up, I went to bed. At 6:30. I would far rather do home improvement projects than shop. Just so ya know. Shopping = tedious and exhausting. Painting = FUN!

And finally, a little PSA... Whatever you do, do NOT watch Falling Skies. It's creepy alien bugs. I saw Noah Wyle listed as one of the actors and thought I'd see what it was about. Ack. Srsly.

Well that's all I know right now. Don't forget to put some YAY in your day! Big hugs xoxo

Thrilling

Well, today is priming the hallway woodwork day! Oh, how I love the smell of fresh paint! And nothing freshens a room like trimming it in a nice crisp white!

But I'd still rather be cruising! ;-)

Hope your day is lovely! Big hugs xo

Primer Friday

Today is pre-painting day at the Swamp. Meaning that tomorrow I'll be priming the woodwork in the hallway... for starters. I can't plan beyond that right now because what I had already painted months ago taught me something I did not enjoy discovering... the paint didn't stick... which means the old paint is oil-based. So I'll be using a primer that is guarandamnteed to stick to oil-based paint so I can go back to using latex. We shall see.

In the meantime I will be working, hopefully taking some orders and dreaming of Old San Juan beaches. Can you believe our BC4 cruise was more than 4 months ago?

Don't forget to put some YAY in your day, too! Big hugs xo♥

Thinking on Thursday

With my parents now beginning their second week in New England I've had plenty of time for thinking. And I've been thinking, "What the hell am I still living so far away from everyone that I love and with whom I love spending time and making more memories?".

It hasn't helped that this morning I've read a blog post on Boston.com showing their top 10 Massachusetts beaches, none of which I have ever visited, and that Linda is in Canada for an adventure in Toronto and now heading towards Niagara Falls, or that all of my sisters will be together this weekend to spend time with my parents.

I've also been cleaning and de-cluttering in preparation for those summer projects I have planned. As I've been cleaning and touching and choosing what to keep and what to toss I've been thinking... that when I get ready to make my next big and, hopefully, my final move to where I will spend my retirement years, there really is very little I would take with me... my cats, my computer, my clothes and my photo albums. I don't have anything I'm especially attached to. And then I wonder... is that a good thing that material things mean nothing to me, or is it a bad thing that nothing that I have in the way of material things means anything at all to me that I can just walk away from it? If the latter, why did I buy them? Well, of course one must have a bed and sofa and car. But I could easily replace them all. And that is exactly what I expect I will do when the time comes. No packing up. No moving van. Just a big old yard sale and a plane ticket.

See. I'm thinking too much. :D

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily...

Life is but a dream. Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream...

I woke up hearing that song in my head, for some strange and mysterious reason.

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily...

Now it's today's ear worm. You're welcome.

I had 2 orders before 10am yesterday... Then nothing after that. Today I am hoping for more of the same... Emphasis on the MORE! ;-)

I watched "Star Trek, the Wrath of Kahn" last night. Yes, I use to be a Trekkie. I loved all things Star Trek. I was a bit shocked to see that this particular Star Trek movie was made in 1982... 29 years ago. Beam me up, Scottie.

This morning as I type this, I've got on "The Four Seasons" with Alan Alda, Carol Burnette, Rita Moreno... made in 1981... 30 years ago? Srsly?

And finally, I leave you with one of the photos I shamelessly stole off Facebook. It's from my nephew and his bride's recent trip to Jamaica. There were a bunch of beautiful and amazing shots, but this one cracked me up!

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily...

Tuesday, at last.

Can you believe it's nearly 8:00 as I type this and I just got up a little while ago? Grayson woke me up by pawing at my bedroom door just before 7:00am... and meowing continuously... until I opened the door. Normally, I'd already have been up for 5 hours! Last night I fell in and out of sleep, while trying to stay awake so I could watch the Boston Pops. And I saw about 2 minutes of it. And then I woke up late. And I feel like total crap this morning. That's what happens when I try to stay up... and don't quite pull it off. ;-)

There were many dipshidiots setting off fireworks all around the swamp last night. Despite the the hard economic times, the drought and the smoke from nearby wildfires. I don't even know why I am surprised anymore, but it still makes me shake my head. And you know that not one of those darlings will be out picking up the mess from those things, right? Right.

This week I have programmed my DVR to record about 4 or 5 brand new shows that look like they might be good, mostly on TNT I think. I keep hoping SOMEBODY will come up with something that's really good. The only TV shows I really enjoy are House and Bones. And House has annoyed me a few times last season with the "House/Cuddy" and "he's using pain meds/he's clean" story lines. And sometimes I like The Closer. I recently started watching Switched at Birth. It was an interesting idea at first, but they're already losing me. We'll see how the new shows go that start next week.

I pay a $ortune for more than 250 channels (my parents each have certain channels they must have) and it really ticks me off that there is STILL never anything on that's worth watching. Honestly, if I didn't have my parents living with me I would not even have TV service. I could go on a couple of cruises with the $avings, too. No kidding!

So it's Tuesday finally! And a brand new month for business. Historically, July and August have always been total crap in my business industry, but I am still hoping for lots of lovely orders today and all month long! If someone needs to order, I want them to order from me! Amen!

Time to hit the shower. I hope your weekend was lovely and that the day ahead is too! Big hugs xo♥

Independence Day 2011

It's pretty quiet around here. We don't have any big cookouts planned or a parade, although I sure wouldn't mind a parade. I'll be asleep before fireworks, if they even have any this year what with all the smoke from the wildfires nearby. What we are planning is a nap, a movie marathon and maybe even another nap. srsly.

Happy 4th of July! Me and Whitey hope you'll enjoy your day. Big hugs xo♥

It's hawt!

Having lived in the Deep South for 36 years, I say this quite often... I just thank God for whoever it was that invented air conditioning. My life is much more comfortable for it.

Today's quotation is brought to you by my good friend Sandee! I read her comment on Sarge's blog yesterday and I just loved it!

I mentioned yesterday that I was going to attack dirt. And I did. I've got more to do today, but I got a pretty good dent in it. Having 4 cats, one of the things I like to do is to steam my floors. The steamer I've been using is OK, but not great. And it leaks. Drip. Drip. Drip. My friend and neighbor brought me over his Shark Steamer with all of the attachments to try out. It ROCKS! I can't wait to try out the hand held attachment in my bathroom today. And that corner tool thingy for behind the commode.

Die, germs and bacteria, die!

Oh! And the wand thingy to freshen my pillows, bedding and sofa. :P

I went to Wally World yesterday for some stuff and found a new scent of Mr. Clean that I just loved so I bought it along with my favorite scent, the Mr. Clean with Febreze Lavender, Vanilla and Comfort... which is still my favorite, but this new Mr. Clean smells like Gain detergent. I use to use Gain years ago because I loved how it smelled, but now I just use the $3 box of Purex laundry powder and my clothes get just as clean. srsly.

Do ya'll have special cleaning products that rock your world? Or could you care less and just grab whatever?

Inquiring minds want to know. :P

So here's Hoping my house is clean by tonight, and yours is too! Big hugs xoxo

Saturday Stuff

Good morning, and welcome to the long holiday weekend!

I've decided to attack dirt today. And clutter. And cat hair. One would think after shedding their winter coats my little furry darlings would be done leaving hair everywhere... or be bald. But they are neither.

I had an epiphany. Yesterday I decided that as I replace my clothes they will be with clothes that cat hair can not stick to, y'all. That will mean no cotton, especially black cotton tank tops such as I wore yesterday. Polyester, Nylon and Spandex... That's the ticket! :P Perhaps I should design an entire line of clothing, bedding and furnishings for all of the people with pets all  across the world! I bet I'd make a killing. srsly.

Well, before I get rich I've got to have my coffee, get a shower, get to Wally World, the Vet's for the Rx dry food and then clean my house. Maybe after all that I can get rich.

Have a lovely day! xoxo

Happy 1st of July!

I know this looks like a photo of Whitey, but it's not... it's really a photo of me. See that salmon-colored shirt behind Whitey? mmm hmmm...

I forgot all about it being a long weekend. I know you all are probably thrilled to have an extra day off, but unless I have special plans - which I do not - I'd just as soon be taking orders and making moo-lah. Just saying. And lately since I'm putting so much time and work into my web site, order-taking is a nice break in my routine. :P

So what have you got planned to celebrate our Independence this weekend? xo♥
