Subependymal Nodular Gray Matter Heterotopia

Those are some scary words.

They were part of the test results my SisterDear Janice just received from the MRI that was given to my 12 year old nephew Tommy a few weeks ago. There were more results and, in fact, even more questions, but that is easily the scariest part. Janice is fraught with worry as she waits for the next appointment with Tommy's Neurologist in 3 weeks and then a Geneticist in about 3 months.

Dr. Google times two have been reading all kinds of scary stuff about Subependymal Nodular Gray Matter Heterotopia.

Janice is also worried about a meeting she has next Monday with a bunch of suits (school officials) regarding Tommy's schooling. She's afraid they are going to tell her that Tommy is no longer welcome at his school. I have to say that I suspect the same thing. His outbursts and behavioral issues are disrupting the entire class and he needs one-on-one supervision... sometimes even that is not enough. It's not fair to the other kids or to the teachers. We understand that. But where will that leave Tommy? Or Janice's job as a Paraprofessional for kids much like Tommy?

Waiting IS NOT something a mother does well when it concerns her child's health and well-being.

Worrying IS something a mother does all too well.

Please add Tommy and my SisterDear to your prayer list.

I know you will, and I thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

In other news, Whitey is getting fed and medicated through the tube quite nicely. I won't post a photo of him now because he looks just awful. He is just a cat-like lump right now. He stays curled up all the time and only gets up to go to the litterbox. Unfortunately, although expected, he has developed very loose stools and that means a poopy butt. Yesterday I had to add insult to injury to sickness and give him a half-bath. Bless his heart. He's so NOT my delightful, happy boy right now. I take him in today just to be weighed to see if he's gained any weight.

In more other news, Gandalf has had 2 full days in kitty confinement with no spraying in the bathroom whatsoever. I visit him often to cuddle, scritch and hold him. Last night I gave him 15 minutes out on the patio. I watched "the business end" every moment as he walked around sniffing fresh air and stretching his legs without incident. Whew. I returned him to kitty confinement just before going to bed. We shall see.

I'm sorry to have such a downer post, but this actually is my life right now and I don't know how to make it sound better. I SO need a cruise! 100 days to go... unless I find a cruise for MotherDear and me out of Jacksonville before then! I'm still looking!

Believe it or not, I shall still find a way to put some YAY in my day. And I hope you do, too!

16 friends chimed in...:
